Now that I am completely retired from education, I have time to become more active with the Iowa Quilters Guild.  This year, I am the program chair-elect, and I'm in the process of planning programs beginning in November 2011.  Luckily, I am able to work with Joan Gelder, current program chair, who has had a lot of experience in planning programs.  Sandi Petsche (Parliamentarian), Robyn Wohlers (Membership Chair) and I attended the Board meeting in Jefferson on Saturday.  The meeting was held in a back room at the Chinese restaurant.  We had a good group and good discussion.  After committee reports, we discussed the possibility of the Iowa Quilters Guild becoming involved with Iowa State University and the Reiman Gardens Quilt show.  It sounds very promising, and it is very likely that we will be helping with the quilt show in August.  The Iowa Quilters Guild has over 130 current members, but all quilters, quilt guilds, and corporate partners are encouraged to join.  Go to the website, iowaquiltersguild.com, for membership information.  This is a very hard-working group of ladies, and I'm excited to be working together with them!
