A Funky Back

Recently, we quilted the store sample Hoo-Rah with Spring Bud thread by Signature in a Double Line and Stars pattern.  I didn't know which fabric to choose for the backing.  While making the kits, me made a mis-cut and cut eight half-yard pieces of the green wave fabric.  Rather than wasting the fabric, or sticking it away in our "we'll get around to making something someday" pile, we cut the half-yard pieces into sixteen 18" squares.  We pieced the squares together, turning adjoining pieces a quarter turn.  The result was a funky back, but I really liked it when it was finished.  The moral of the story is: a pieced back can add another element to your quilt, OR, don't be afraid to make lemonade out of lemons.
