Meet AQS Certified Appraiser
Jennifer Perkins, Harlan, has just earned her certification by the American Quilter's Society (AQS) as a Certified Appraiser of Quilted Textiles. She passed the tests in Paducah, KY the end of April. She is the first Certified Quilt Appraiser in Iowa. There are 100 appraisers nationwide. She is also a National Quilting Association (NQA) Certified Quilt Judge (again the only one in Iowa). She can be contacted at email@example.com or 712-755-5383. Iasked Jennifer to comment on her accomplishment, and she responded, "This has taken many years of study and hard work and I am so happy to finally be certified!" We are really fortunate to have such a talented quilter in the area. Jennifer is the president-elect of the Iowa Quilt Guild and will take the reigns as president in July.

LaVista Conference Center
Quilt Safari is the theme for this year's Omaha Quilter's Guild Show, June 23-25 at the LaVista Conference Center. Come see extraordinary quilts, challenge quilts and other displays. Many vendors will be on hand, including... US! (you might also note that we have a new line of fabric that fits the Safari theme...) Check out our booth at the Quilt Show. We will have specials for our bag ladies that we will advertise closer to the event. If you'd like more details about the show, classes, and events, go to the Omaha Quilter's Guild website (omahaquiltersguild.org).

Born & raised in Hungary, Aniko Feher loved to draw people & their faces. When she came to America, she discovered quilting at an art fair and has been designing portrait quilts ever since. Her work is extraordinary. If you are interested in learning how to make fabric portraits, click on the Iowa Quilter's Guild website link to register-- iowaquiltersguild.com. Space is limited, so hurry & register today. I will be hosting Aniko in my home and transporting her to and from the event. I'm so excited to meet her and learn more of her personal story.

Mary Jo Bonsall, Dunlap, is a seasoned Bonnie Hunter quilter. She attended a Bonnie Hunter workshop and learned to cut & sort her scraps. Mary Jo is religious about cutting and sorting, and she loves to make log cabins. She recently brought 3 log cabin quilts in. They will soon be wedding gifts.
This beautiful quilt is on it's way to a wedding in Denmark. Marilee Christensen, Harlan, chose to have it quilted with Black thread.

Rosemary Reinig, Harlan, is a frequent shopper and prolific quilter. She makes quilt after quilt after quilt. And gives them all away. Rosemary has a huge heart (and a huge stash). This turquoise/batik beauty shows how a simple 9-patch can create a stunning quilt. Rosemary chose to quilt her batik with Meandering Suns pattern in Turquoise Ombre Signature Pixelles thread.

Granny's girls are showing off their table runners. They are quick and easy, and make a fun project when the sisters are home visiting Granny.
Jane, left, shows her runner using Central Park fabric.
At right, Becky is showing Bistro fabric & Jane has Sandy Gervais' Pumpkins Gone Crazy.
