Look What's Quilting -- Debbie Pope 8-15-11

Debbie Pope, Lewis, stitched this patriotic baby quilt for a family she has never met.  Her son recently returned home from being stationed in the Middle East.  He has a friend who was expecting a baby, but the friend was still overseas, away from his wife and family.  Debbie made this patriotic gift for them, and when she told me the story, I offered to quilt it for free. Debbie chose to quilt it with Double Line Stars pattern in YLI monofilament thread.  The baby boy was born July 4! Now let's all pray that daddy makes it home safe and sound (and soon!)

Show and Tell -- LeAnn Keenan 8-11-11

LeAnn Keenan recently finished this Crabapple Hill wall hanging.  She brought it in to the shop and is letting us display it.  LeAnn picked up the pattern and Presencia thread in our shop, and completed the wall hanging using her stash of red & white fabrics.  The wall hanging combines piecework, embroidery, beading, wool embellishments, and handquilting.  It is beautiful.

When I asked LeAnn to pose for a pic, she said I should take a pic of her foot, since she just got a pedicure :-).

My Stitching Peace -- Sampler Coming Soon

Jean Devereux, creator of the fabulous buttons and patterns from My Stitching Peace, brought in this primitive sampler:  The Fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22.  The sampler combines fusible applique, embroidery and button embellishments (handmade, custom buttons, of course). Jean is working on the pattern right now, and will soon have it available in our shop and online.  The finished sampler can be framed or hung.  Jean has plans to complete a series of four samplers each year.  It is very exciting to see how her creative mind works!

Jean has generously made several store samples of her work.  I've finished them with quilting and binding, and we will soon have kits ready.  If you'd like to see all of the kits that are on the way, go to our website http://stitchintree.com/Kits/QuiltKits_MyStitchingPeace.htm
and check out the page that is dedicated to My Stitching Peace kits.

Look What's Quilting -- Paige McKern 8-11-11

Look What's Quilting -- Ann Holt 8-11-11

Ann Holt has tackled her first quilt without a pattern, and she should be pleased with the outcome.  Ann pieced this quilt using a couple of layer cakes from Breakfast at Tiffany's line by Moda.  She chose to quilt it with the Berry Vine Park pattern in Pale Peach thread by Signature.  Ann wanted to cover a queen-sized bed, so she chose to use solid setting squares.  Ann constructed this quilt as a gift to her daughter who is coming to visit next week on Ann's birthday.  Ann says it is her 49K birthday (after 49 she switched to letters).  Happy birthday Ann!  Great job on the quilt.
