The weather cooperated with us on Monday evening, January 16, as seven quilters participated in the Road to Paradise - Valentine Table Runner workshop.  The workshop featured a PRE-CUT kit using Sandy Gervais' L'Amour fabrics.  The quilters were kind enough to be my guinea pigs, trying out a new pattern that I plan to take to Paducah.  They had great suggestions for improving the pattern.  Feedback for the PRE-CUT kits was very positive, with the quilters appreciating the time saved from cutting odd-sized triangular blocks.  Also, the dog-ears are already trimmed from the pre-cut blocks, making piecing super easy and fast.

We have one kit remaining -- if you want it, you better call quickly -- $29 includes pattern, pre-cut blocks, backing and binding.

Patty Stephens, Macedonia, was first to finish her table runner.

Pat Trusty, Omaha, uses Cindy Erickson's methods for chain piecing quickly and efficiently.

Our own Linda Kreifels spent time to check the accuracy of her quarter inch foot.

Patty Stephens, Macedonia

Jill Hinckley, Harlan, signed up with her mother-in-law, Linda Kreifels.

Ione Hughes, Walnut, rode along with Vivian Storjohann.

Can you believe it? Vivian Storjohann, Walnut, just returend from having inner ear surgery last week in Memphis, Tennessee. What a trouper!

Pat Morris likes to try new things to challenge herself.

Pat Trusty, Omaha, always has a smile on her face.

Look What's Quilting

Our goal is to quilt 6-7 quilts each week.  With Nancy Cook out of the shop (busy traveling cross-country with husband, Bob), Nancy Watts and I are scampering to stay caught up, but so far (knock on wood) we're sticking to schedule.  Here are some of the quilts we quilted last week.  In addition to the pictured quilts, we constructed quilted 3 t-shirt quilts for customers (we never post those pics, in case they are surprise gifts)...

Marilyn Rauterkus, Omaha, cross-stitched this baby quilt for a great-grandbaby who is yet to be born. Marilyn has made several quilt tops and is waiting patiently for one of her grandchildren to marry and start a family. Marilyn is one of my husband's aunts, and I feel honored that she allows me to quilt her treasures. Marilyn chose to quilt this top with Flowers pattern in YLI monofilament thread.

Another baby quilt for a future great-grandbaby. Marilyn Rauterkus, Omaha, is creating a fairly large stash. Her grandkids better get busy :-) Marilyn chose to quilt this top with Hearts & Loops pattern in YLI monofilament thread.

Pat Trusty, Omaha, purchased this quilt kit at Kanesville in Council Bluffs two or three years ago. It was her first attempt at triangular borders. Pat chose to quilt it with Loops and Swirls pattern in Mother Goose thread by Signature.

A little over one year ago, Pat Trusty of Omaha attended our President's Day Mystery workshop where she constructed this gold, red and white Stars & Stripes throw quilt. The pattern is available for FREE on our website. Pat chose to quilt it with Stars & Loops pattern in Latte thread by Signature.

Thank You

Thanks to all of you who came to help me celebrate my 50th birthday last week.  We had a great week at the shop, with hundreds of guests throughout the week.  We cleared the shelves of GOBS of bolts of fabric, making room for NEW fabric...

Quilters from 4 states stopped by the shop and registered for prizes.

Look What We've Been Quilting

We've been busy quilting since the first of the year. Here's some of the projects we have been working on.

Carolyn Steinkuehler pieced this small quilt in a workshop.  She chose to quilt it with Asian Leaves design in Baguette thread by Signature.  Check out her pieced back!
LeAnn Keenen pieced this bright beauty using our FREE English Flower Garden pattern FREE English Garden Pattern.  Her outside border is the large floral in our Central Park line, and LeAnn chose a large selection of brights from her fabric stash.   LeAnn chose to quilt it with Loops and Swirls pattern in Daisy thread by Signature.
Lilas Brockman pieced this Rose & White quilt using a variety of her rose fabrics that she has collected since the 1980's.  Lilas is very particular about her piecing.  Her four-patch points match up perfectly.  Lilas chose to quilt it with Asian Leaves pattern in Victorian Rose thread by Signature.
Linda Huttman completed this quilt top in the same workshop as Carolyn Steinkuehler, above.  Linda chose Christmas fabrics for her quilt top.  Linda chose to quilt it with Stars & Loops pattern in Camel thread by Signature.
Another batik quilt from Mary Jo Bonsall's stash.  The only fabric that she had to purchase was the deep purple.  Then she used her leftovers for the next quilt.  Mary Jo chose to quilt it with Meandering Suns pattern in Berry Vine thread by Signature.
The leftover purple batiks make quite a splash in this quilt by Mary Jo Bonsall.  This quilt is from a Debra McAffrey pattern.  Mary Jo chose to quilt it with Asian Leaves pattern in Shrimp thread by Signature.  When Mary Jo brought in the quilt top, she told us that the shrimp thread choice took her out of her comfort zone, but as it turned out, the Shrimp was perfect to pull the oranges and pinks together.  What a stunning quilt!
Maxine Sick pieced this flannel throw featuring a panel and coordinating fabrics.  She chose to quilt it with Pine Trees pattern in Cranapple thread by Signature.
Maxine Sick used a variety of reds and whites in this bold, strip pattern.  She chose to quilt it with Flowers pattern in Scarlet thread by Signature.
This is the first of several quilts that Pat Trusty, Omaha, brought in for us to quilt.  We started with the largest.  Pat chose to quilt it with Pansy Up Down pattern in Baguette thread.

Pat owns an antique store in the Florence area of Omaha.  She also has space in one of the Walnut Antique shops.  She has a great collection of vintage fabrics.

Sharon Peterson cross-stitched each of the panels in this quilt top.  She chose fabrics from our shop, and Nancy Cook pieced the quilt before she left on her bike excursion across the lower half of the United States.  She chose to quilt it with Hearts and Loops pattern in YLI Monofilament thread.
