Nancy Prince is a celebrated AQS author and teacher. She came to Harlan to teach 22 quilters her thread painting technique. Nancy introduced a new design, School Days, with our group. She demonstrated how to make the tree and canopy before beginning our instruction. Our first task was to creat the shrubs. That was a good place to start. In the afternoon, we learned how to make the pumpkins. Irene Moore, Council Bluffs, brought yummy Chex Mix treats. On the second day, we worked on a more challenging part of the quilt -- the little girl. Nancy's book is very self-explanatory and Nancy has videos on her website that explain the process. As participants in the class, we received a DVD that explains precisely how to thread paint each aspect of the quilt. It was a GREAT workshop, and I can't wait to follow up on my quilt top. I think I'll schedule some Nancy Prince follow up dates to help encourage the quilters in class to finish their thread painted landscapes.
