Quilters Cottage is Ready for You!

Quilters Cottage is open and ready for business!
Three second-floor bedrooms each have (3) twin beds.  For now, it's a tight squeeze, but after we expand the basement bed/bath area (garden level), we'll change the upstairs bedrooms to (2) beds each.

One bed in each room has a “firm” mattress.  The beds are dressed with 450 count sheets, blanket, homemade quilt, and two pillows.  Additional pillows/blankets are available inside the closet of each bedroom.

The upstairs full bath is quite spacious.   Luxurious towels, hand towels, and washcloths are available for the guests.  Other bathroom amenities are available for your use without additional charge:  acetamenophin, ibuprofen, cotton swabs, cotton balls, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, lotion, sanitary napkins, and personal hygiene products. A second, half-bath is located on the main floor near the quilting workroom.

Take a break in our cozy relaxation area.  We picked out the furniture with WOMEN in mind:  that's right ladies... you can sit back and your feet will touch the floor!  The relaxation area is outfitted with a full-size couch, love seat, accent chair and rocking chair.  A wall-mounted flat-screen TV/ with VCR/DVD is also located in the relaxation area.  The television pulls local/regional stations only.  An  i-pod friendly stereo system is also available.  Wireless internet is available.  A landline telephone is available for local calls only.
The quilting workroom includes (10) individual tables & chairs.  Two ironing boards and irons are available.  Distilled water is provided for the irons.  A large cutting table is available with cutting mats & rotary cutters and rulers.  Extension cords and power strips are available for each table in the quilting workroom.  The quilting workroom also includes a design wall and show & tell space.  The workroom will be set up for the number of quilters in your group.  You  are welcome to set up additional tables and rearrange the room to meet your group’s needs. Individual garbage cans are also available for each quilter.

The Cottage includes a fully equipped kitchen & dining room that is separate from the quilting workroom and relaxation area. Guests are welcome to use any/all supplies in the kitchen: dishes, glassware, silverware, serving utensils, disposable table service products, serving dishes, cookware, pots, pans, bakeware, measuring utensils, crock pots, griddle, beater, blender, toaster, 2 coffee makers (an extra for decaf), microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher.  Coffee (decaf & regular), tea, iced tea, sugar, sugar substitute, creamer, salt/pepper and limited seasonings are also available for your use at no additional charge.  Drinking/cooking water is available in the refrigerator.

We held our first retreat in January and had a BLAST.  Eight of my quilting friends and I participated in a variety of activities during our retreat weekend, and we ate, and we laughed, and we ate some more!  Part of our time was structured:  we played Trader's Dice to exchange fabric scraps and embarked on a mystery quilt.  Part of our time was open quilting.  We found that the variety worked well for us.  The event gave me an opportunity to take some new pics of the Cottage.  It's still a work in progress, but it is really taking shape.  Since my last post, every room has been painted, beds have been made, a new half-bath has been installed on the main floor, and new furniture arrived for the relaxation area.  I still have work to do to finish the window treatments and bed quilts, but the Cottage is fully functional and can currently sleep 9 quilters.

We started our day with a hearty breakfast of Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon.   Mmmmm.

There was plenty of room in the workspace to spread out.
